선정된 작가에게는 개인전 기회를 제공하며, 자신의 작업을 보다 밀도 있게 선보일 수 있는 환경을 지원합니다.
단순한 공간 지원에 그치지 않고, 갤러리와의 논의를 통해 전시의 방향과 구성도 함께 만들어갑니다.

‘제3의 문화인(Third Culture Kid, TCK)’으로 이동하는 삶을 살아온 작가에게 집은 더 이상 네모난 공간이 아니다.
집은 가족과 함께 살아가는 삶의 과정이자, 안식처이다.
다양한 문화 사이를 떠돌며 소속감과 안정을 찾아온 작가에게 ‘집’이라는 개념은 오랫동안 풀리지 않는 질문으로 남아 있었다.
이번 전시 Far From Home은 그 질문에서 출발한다. 반복된 이별과 시작을 통해 작가는 깨닫는다.
집, 곧 안식이란 더 이상 특정한 장소나 뿌리로부터 기인하지 않는다는 것을.
나그네의 발에는 늘 물집과 상처, 그리고 긴장이 남는다.
그러나 그 안에는 허리를 동여매고 다시 출발할 수 있는 단단한 힘이 있다.
고된 삶의 여정을 통해 길러진 그 힘은 결국 외부의 장소가 아닌
자신을 지지해 주는 안식처—곧 내면에 자리한 ‘집’으로부터 비롯된다.
For an artist who has lived a life in motion as a Third Culture Kid (TCK), home is no longer a fixed, physical space.
It is a process of living alongside family, a place of rest and refuge.
Having drifted between cultures in search of belonging and stability, the idea of “home” has long remained an unresolved question.
Far From Home begins from that very question. Through repeated farewells and new beginnings, the artist comes to realize that home originates beyond a specific place or rootedness.
A wanderer’s feet are always marked by blisters, wounds, and a lingering tension.
Yet within them lies a quiet resilience, the strength to gather oneself and set out again.
Forged through the hardships of the journey, this strength ultimately does not come from any external place, but from a refuge that sustains the self—
an inner home that resides within.
[김지수 작가소개]
김지수(b. 1999)는 사진 기반 작업을 하는 한국 작가로, 영국 웨일스에서 태어나 중국에서 성장했다. 홍콩과 미국 조지아주 애틀랜타에서 유학했으며, 현재는 한국을 기반으로 활동하고 있다.
다문화적 배경 속에서 ‘제3문화 아이(Third Culture Kid, TCK)’로 성장한 그는, 끊임없이 소속감을 탐색하는 과정 속에서 고립감과 이질성을 하나의 힘으로 전환해왔다. 그의 작업은 일상의 평범한 순간들 속에 깃든 시적 감각을 포착하며, 소외, 이동, 문화적 무국적성이라는 주제를 바탕으로 친밀한 서사를 구축한다. 이를 통해 정체성과 소속에 대한 다양한 정의를 탐구한다.

Artist Bio (Revised)
Jee Su Kim (b. 1999) is a South Korean photo-based artist, born in Wales (U.K.) and raised in China. She has studied across Hong Kong and Atlanta, GA, and is currently based in Korea.
Growing up in a multicultural environment as a Third Culture Kid (TCK), Kim has continually navigated questions of identity and belonging. These experiences have led her to transform feelings of isolation and otherness into a source of empowerment.
Her work captures the poetry of the everyday, constructing intimate narratives that explore themes of alienation, displacement, and cultural homelessness. Through her lens, she examines the fluid and evolving definitions of identity and belonging.

Far From Home – Still Home
나는 다양한 문화 속을 떠돌며, 정체성의 경계를 넘나드는 삶을 살아온 Third Culture Individual이다.
어느 한 곳에도 온전히 속하지 못한 채, 뿌리 없는 ‘이방인’처럼 느껴질 때도 많았다.
풍부한 문화적 배경은 나에게 많은 것을 주었지만, 동시에 ‘집’이자 마음속 고향이라는 손에 잡히지 않는 추상적 개념은 언제나 나에게 풀리지 않는 의문으로 남았다.
Far From Home은 이러한 경험에서 출발한 프로젝트이다.
‘고향’, ‘정체성’, ‘소속감’을 다시 돌아보고 그 의미를 탐구하는 여정이기도 하다.
나는 익숙했던 장소를 다시 방문하고, 가까운 사람들을 기록하며, 비슷한 길을 걸어온 타인의 이야기를 카메라 렌즈에 담았다.
각각의 사진 속에는 우리가 누구인지, 어디에서, 누구에게서 소속감을 느끼는지 조용히 되묻게 만드는 성찰이 흐른다.
그들에게 “어디서 왔어요?” 또는 “당신의 고향은 어디인가요?”라고 물었다.
겉으로 보기에는 단순한 질문 같지만, 그 안에는 수많은 결이 숨어 있다.
때로는 어릴 적 기억, 숨겨진 역사와 말하지 못한 서사들이 모습을 드러낸다.
사진은 그들의 삶으로 향하는 문이자, 내면의 이야기를 담아내는 통로이다.
시간의 흔적과 감성적 요소가 내 작업의 중심이다.
사진 속 인물들은 어쩌면 가까우면서도 동시에 멀게 느껴진다.
가까이에 있지만, 시선은 마치 자연스레 멀리 머무는 그들의 모습은 곧 내 삶을 비추기도 한다.
반복된 이별과 시작, 안정에 대한 불안, 그리고 미지에 대한 갈망이 교차하는 자리에서, 나는 여전히 ‘소속감’을 찾아가고 있다.
나는 마침내 깨달았다.
‘집’이란 특정 장소나 뿌리, 국적으로 한정되지 않는다는 것을.
진정한 소속감은 우리가 맺는 관계와 마음의 교감 속에서 만들어지며, 우리의 기억과 가치, 함께 나눈 순간들이 모여 ‘집’이라는 공간을 형성해 나간다는 것을.
사진은 나에게 그 흔적을 기록하고, 순간의 감정을 담아내는 유일한 도구이다.
Far From Home — Artist Statement (Revised)
Growing up within a multicultural background as a Third Culture Individual, I often grappled with feelings of alienation, displacement, and cultural homelessness. Despite a background often described as rich and diverse, I have long experienced a deep longing for a sense of belonging and a clear understanding of what “home” truly means—an elusive and intangible concept.
Far From Home is an ongoing project that explores ideas of home, belonging, and identity through the lens of the migrant experience. The work unfolds through both my personal journey—revisiting familiar environments and photographing those closest to me—and the stories of others who share similar paths. Each photograph becomes a space for reflection on who we are, where we belong, and how we relate to the spaces we inhabit.
I ask my subjects where they find their sense of belonging through deceptively simple questions: “Where are you from?” or “Where’s home for you?” These questions often open a deeper, more vulnerable dialogue—a portal into their lives that reveals hidden histories, unspoken upbringings, and the layered realities that shape who they are today.
Timelessness and a subtle sense of surrealism are central to my work. The subjects often appear both intimate and distant, reflecting my own life shaped by repeated goodbyes, new beginnings, and a simultaneous fear of stability and desire for exploration.
My work speaks to the ongoing search for a place to call home while navigating the tensions between rootedness and movement. Through these encounters, I have come to realize that regardless of geography, heritage, or status, home is not fixed. It can be found anywhere, at any moment—shaped by the values we cultivate, the emotional connections we form, and the relationships that ground us.

박인영은 사운드를 중심으로 작업하는 한국 작가로,컴퓨터 음악을 기반으로 소리와 이미지 매체를 함께 다룬다. 일상의 소리와 자연의 음향을 수집하고 변형하는 과정을 통해 감각과 기억의 관계를 풀어내고 보는 것과 듣는 것 사이의 차이에 관심을 둔다.
그의 작업은 감각의 전환을 통해 익숙한 경험을 새롭게 바라보게 하는 데 목적이 있다.
Park Inyoung is a South Korean artist who works primarily with sound,
engaging both audio and visual media based on computer music.
Through the process of collecting and transforming everyday sounds and natural acoustics, she explores the relationship between perception and memory,
with a particular interest in the gap between seeing and hearing.
Her work seeks to reframe familiar experiences by shifting sensory perception.

지금 어디에 있는지, 어떤 방황을 지나고 있든,
우리의 정체성은 결국 각자가 지닌 시선과 이야기 속에서 이어진다.
그 흐름 속에서 스스로를 놓지 않는다면, 우리는 저마다의 방식으로 삶을 이어갈 수 있을 것이다.
이 전시는 하나의 답에 이르기보다,
서로 다른 배경과 이야기를 지닌 우리가 한 공간에 머무는 순간을 통해
각자가 서 있는 자리와 자신을 둘러싼 시간을 다시 바라보게 한다.
그 순간은 각자의 시선과 이야기로 이어지며, 보이지 않는 소리의 흐름 속에서도 서로를 연결한다.
우리는 어쩌면 스스로에게도 낯선 순간을 지나고 있는 존재일지도 모른다.
그럼에도 그 낯섦 속에서, 어디에 있든 각자의 이야기는 계속해서 이어진다.
결국 우리는 자신의 시선과 이야기를 천천히 마주하게 된다.
Regardless of where we are, what path we are wandering, our identity ultimately continues through the perspectives and stories each of us holds.
If we do not lose hold of ourselves within that flow, we can continue our lives in our own ways.
Rather than arriving at a single answer, this exhibition invites us, despite our different backgrounds and stories, to dwell together in one space and reconsider where we stand and how we experience the time that surrounds us.
In those moments, our perspectives and narratives intertwine, connecting us even through the invisible flow of sound.
Perhaps we are all passing through moments in which we feel unfamiliar even to ourselves.
Yet within that unfamiliarity, wherever we are, our stories continue.
In the end, we come to slowly face our own perspectives and stories.
